Thanks for reaching out here in the Community, maria. I'm glad to walk you through merging your duplicated credit card account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

First off, please know that if you merge accounts that have reconciliation reports, you'll need to save those reports first. The accounts being merged may not keep the reconciliation history. The transactions remain on the merged account and stay reconciled.

Note: If both account registers have an opening balance equity transaction, you need to delete the most recent one before merging. The older transaction becomes the opening balance of the newly merged account.

Going back, make sure you’re in Accountant view. Then, let's merge the accounts by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon (), then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account you want to keep and select Edit by clicking the dropdown icon (▼) under the Action column.
  3. Take note of the account details. These must be the same between the accounts you want to merge. These include the Account typeTax form section, and the Name. Then, click Cancel.
  4. Go back to the Chart of Accounts page.
  5. Look for the account you don't want to keep. Then, hit the dropdown icon (▼), and then hit Edit.
  6. Change the account information and make it identical to the account that you want to keep. Then, click Save.
  7. Confirm the merging process by choosing Yes.

In addition, you may also make an account inactive on your chart of accounts if you don't plan to use them anymore.
