Yes, the fix it later option is the best option.  You won't really have to fix anything later.

The new import introduced in 2019 is a mess and Intuit hasn't fixed the issues then introduced.  See this page for details: BRC QuickBooks 2019+ IIF Import Changes and Recommendations

Hey there, @NitaPowell.

There might be an issue with your company file. This the reason why you're getting an error message while importing your lists and transactions to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Let me share with you some troubleshooting steps on how to fix it. This way, we can make sure you're able to import all of your transactions.

To start, update QuickBooks Desktop to its latest. This will help you fix some minor issues with your company file. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Update Now tab.
  3. Select Get Updates to start the download.
  4. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
  5. When prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

Once done, import yours.IIF files again. If you're still getting the same error, run the Verify and Rebuild tools. The Verify Data self-identifies the most commonly known data issues within a company file while Rebuild Data self-resolves most data integrity issues that the Verify Data finds.

Additionally, you can run the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub. This will also help you fix common problems and errors in your company file.

Don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section below if you need further assistance in importing your transactions. I'm always ready to help. Have a great day.

i have R4_51.  i am told i have the latest version.  Nothing to update.   These error messages started AFTER this update.   i want to go back to 2011.  never had issues......ever.  I should be able to upload jobcost from ADP to QB using the csv FILE - IMPORT TO IFF with NO ISSUES......and it is NOT happening.  ADP shows no errors.  ALSO,  it is code 15100 after EACH ENTRY.

    Hello @NitaPowell,

Let me offer help and share how you can get rid of the error message so you import your IIF files successfully.

To start with, the error message you receive is related to how your file is created. Let's update its format base on the following requirements outlined in this article: Export, import, and edit IIF files.

In the same manner, this article will also provide additional resolution in case you're still unable to import your file after reformatting it: Improved IIF Import in QuickBooks 2019 and later.

On top of that, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Help Articles for QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have any other questions, please let me know in the comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.

so who at QB knows about this issue.  After combing the internet on QB it looks like this started at the 2019 update....which i went from 2011 to 2021.

      @NitaPowell

There are some unresolved issues in IIF feature since QBD 2019 released. Consider using an importer tool as the solution.

Yes, since 2019, there have been a LOT of issues for us in payroll.  Whenever we attempt to access an employee's master record, QB gives us the "apologize" message and terminates QB.  We were finally able to get QB to acknowledge that this is a known issue.  Of course, they are doing nothing to fix it.  The just have this work around of exporting all employee records, then importing them again, in the hopes that will take care of the problem.  We did that, but found other issues from the export/import process, but we were able to getting QB working again.

We are now having the SAME ISSUE again.  Arggghh!
