I am trying to import a journal entry into QB Premier for the first time using an IIF template file. After my first attempt I got "; [ERROR] [Employee Vacation Fund] Account does not exist in Quickbooks [11288]" but the account is already set up in my chart of accounts. This is a payroll expense subaccount. Do I need to use the entire account hierarchy on the account field?
Yes, include the entire account name including the parent name. Put a ":" in-between the names, with no spaces, like:
Parent:Child
or
Payroll Expenses:Employee Vacation Fund

Then use the IIF files it creates as an example/template to follow. If will, for example, automatically find and include the full account name (like Payroll Expenses:Employee Vacation Fund) in the IIF file when you use only the child name on your worksheet.
