I would like to create a custom chart of accounts / categories for transactions in Quickbooks Solopreneur, is this possible?  I am not finding that capability and is a deal breaker for this platform if I cannot do this.

I know proper categorization is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, David. Let me discuss this process in QuickBooks Solopreneur and offer you an option for adding categories.

Currently, the option to create a custom chart of accounts to categorize your bank transactions is unavailable in QuickBooks Solopreneur.

Upon linking your bank or credit card account, you can categorize transactions using predefined categories for easy review. The program is tailored specifically for Schedule C (Form 1040) filers, ideal for sole proprietors or single-member LLCs.

However, consider upgrading to QuickBooks Online (QBO) Simple Start. With this, you can add a maximum of 250 accounts to your chart of accounts to categorize your bank transactions. Check out this guide for a detailed comparison between QBO Simple Start and Solopreneur: Introduction to QuickBooks Solopreneur.
