Inactivate Accounts

Hello,
After reading multiple help forums, I am left with the same result, I cannot delete or inactivate specific accounts. The error message I receive is:
They have a non-zero balance.
They're one of the default accounts used in your chart of accounts.
They're being used in an automated workflow.
Help would be appreciated
