It will help if provide more details on such an unusual incident. Please, confirm this is not an isolated incident where you were just not able to access the portal.

But just in case of the worse

1- Check any IRS collection

2- Check there was not an issue with the delivery of the plastic card

3- Check there is not a claim or chargeback

4- Check you are not an international location.

But if still convinced that you are deprived of your balance, there are a few government agencies to file a claim. From top of my mind is the Federal Trade Comision.   Judicial claim, very expensive since your agreement force you to go to Federal court.

Good luck and keep us informed.

This is also happening to me.

LOCKED up money, closed my merchant account after I've been with them since 2004.

Idiots on the phone can apologize but have NO answer accept to say it's under review and it could take 1-3 YEARS before they release my funds.

Not sure if my next call is to the BBB, FCC, or a really good attorney.

June 13, 2023

i am contacting a really good attorney and going to invest what they stole from me to the attorney. it is not about the money any more. it is about allowing quick books to get away with treating there customer like this. Feel free to contact me [Removed].

We'd want to make sure that we get this sorted out, bowmansonsllc-gm.

Here's how to reach out to them:

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right hand corner of your QBO account.
  2. Type in "Talk to a human" in the chatbox, then press Enter.
  3. Select Get help from a human.

Did you get your money back? They closed my checking account and are withholding thousands of dollars from me and stating I have to wait at least 270 business days to get my money back.

@NotHappy123

As far as I know their decision is final to hold your money and will release it once it reaches a certain date. You may have 2 options until then:
1. Use third party merchant services to receive payments and link them to your QBO.
2. Migrate your data to another brand and purchase a third party conversion service if needed.

My only concern is getting my money at this point. Other users on this forum seem to point people to contacting the FDIC or consumerfimlnance.gov. I have no plans for QB book to keep my money for over a year. It's a disgrace and they should be ashamed.

Have you tried contacting any of the above? Did you get your money back? If so how long did it take?

This just happened to me

Is this legal to steal money and use it to make interest profit while they lock us out from using it?

It says I received an email but I never did.

A couple weeks ago I got a scam call prying for information from someone that falsely claimed to be from Inuit and asking me for my EIN and other tax information out of nowhere and were referencing information that had nothing to do with my business or my QuickBooks company.

Then I couldn't transfer money so I requested a call - I got 10 calls after that from scammers and then finally Inuit support who put me on hold for a long time, then I could transfer again, and then said they didn't do anything.

Clearly a blatant lie - what's going on here? Clearly this is a common pattern from Inuit recently.

Are they perhaps going bankrupt and stealing from customers?

This just happened to me too!  Has anyone gotten any info on who to call to escalate this, this is ridiculous they cannot just take hold of it.  I will gladly join a class action lawsuit over this.

They recently stole $20,000 from my account.  We run a documentary company and are currently collecting media for a pilot to expose them (do what you love to fight what you hate).  Contact us if you have a story with legitimate documentation.  We’ve had several calls with QBO trying to get to the bottom of this.  First they said they would reach a decision in 30 days, the next person told us it was resolved and we’d receive confirmation in a day or two (nope) next person said there was nothing they could do.  Then I got an email saying they’d give me a response in the next 50 days.

Here’s the rub.  They don’t give the money back to the person who issued the payment either.  They hold it and day trade with it or use the money indefinitely for their gain. It’s impossible for you to reach them (only entry level support who can’t tell you anything).  My client tried.  Their bank tried.  I tried.  Efforts are futile. Please don’t waste your time trying to get these criminals to give your money back to you or your client.  You can’t afford to sue them either.  All we can do is create a large enough message to attract a class action law suit.  They are already under so much scrutiny. Please please please share your story and document your journey!

If it helps you, I detailed my story on the community thread linked below and how I did SUCCESSFULLY get my money back after contacting the Better Business Bureau. It may also help you to know QB works with Green Dot Bank for their checking and financial services.

Crookbooks Stole My Money Community Thread

September 19, 2023

That is helpful.  I've filed a complaint with BBB and we'll see how it goes. This has been a surreal experience.  Did Green Dot Bank do anything to help you or are you mentioning that so I can stay the hell away from them?

The same thing happened to me. I billed my client for equipment deposits. They intern paid by ACH. QuickBooks collected that money canceled my account and told me it was a business decision to terminate my account.  They never released the money back to my client or gave it to me. They sent me an email, asking me to send them my drivers license, Social Security, card and six months of bank statements. I did all of that and they still kept my money and canceled my account with no warning and no reason. I called approximately five times Each time I called, I was stuck speaking to foreign employees who could not help me. I asked to be connected to the decision-making office or division. Each time I was told I could not go any higher than them. I was given five case numbers and no one has called me back or said anything about my money. The total amount stolen from me is $25,880. At this point, I don’t know what to do other than get an attorney and sue for damages. If anyone can help me, please let me know.

I highly urge you to contact Better Business Bureau immediately.  I did this based on the recommendation of another user who was robbed.  I got a call from the presidents office the next day.  Still took a month to get it resolved, but it finally happened.  I wish I had the money to sue them.   Good luck and mind your blood pressure.  I spent a total of 20 hours on the phone.  Dozens of calls sometimes upwards of two hours running in circles.

I wanted to keep this thread up to date and add our circumstance.

We opened a QB Checking Account withing the Quickbook Accounting Software, which serves as a hub for its banking partner (Green Dot).   The promise of 5% APY and backed by trust we had in Intuit Quickbooks accounting made us interested.   Ultimately, the ease of using the new QB Checking account inside our QB online accounting software made the funding of the QB Checking accounts/envelopes simple.   The hard part is getting your funds back!

I made 4 ACH transfers from our WellsFargo Bank to the New Quickbooks Checking account.   We even received the Debit Card, (was never able to activate it.).   3 Weeks later, the Account when on hold and then day later the account was closed for "Business Reasons."

Per the thread, Intuit QB representatives give different answers on when deposited funds may be returned, and I am currently creating an Audit Trail for both funds Recovery and legal action.

I have cancelled all scheduled QB Billpay, since I believe any issues with paying a vendor, may result in the same fate.

I am simply disgusted that you can be robbed by your Accounting Software.   No doubt, we business owners shall see this injustice and severe failure or business ethics be paid in full with damages by Intuit and its Business partners.  It may take a while, but it will happen.

I am writing to continue this thread—I see it has been two years and this is still happening—it just happened to me and it is very clear from this thread and my personal experience now that QuickBooks is intentionally stealing money from small business owners. Why would they not automatically refund the money to the consumer if they need to “close the account” on me? That is theft. Did a class action suit get filed?

@Clark_B Just in response to your response--I have contacted the Quick Books payment department five times now, filing three different "escalations"--this last time the person I chatted with actually clarified that the "backend team" that these escalations are "reviewed by" does not necessarily carry any responsibility to respond to me. The people I am speaking to in the service center have no power to reverse this, and Quick Books has set it up so that we cannot actually contact anyone with the power to reverse this decision. Not only that, but instead of reversing the transactions and sending the money back to the consumer (so if it were in fact some scam, which it is not) the consumer would receive their money refunded, Quick Books "holds onto the money" to deal with any disputes they might "receive." There would be no disputes if you hadn't stolen the money in the first place. That is where I believe the fraud lies. I intend to report this to the Better Business Bureau and to flag it for any other federal agencies that I can. Quick Books needs to notify individuals before they close an account, and ACTUALLY give them the tools to prove the account in not fraudulent. Any time I clicked on any of the "resolve this" links, it took me to an error page that reads "We're sorry, we can't find the page you requested." How convenient.
