Question

Is there a way/ how do I export customer data for import into QBO from QB Self Employed? Same question, but for invoices as well...

Recently "upgraded" but there was not a choice to migrate our data....trying to do so semi manually, but cannot type it all in... wondering if there is a way to download a CSV and then import (I understand my import options into QBO, but self employed doesn't seem to have an export function)

It is possible to export only specific data in CSV format within QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), aschot12. We will provide information to assist you in this process and ensure your data is accessible in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

The option to manually export invoices as CSV files is unavailable in QBSE. However, you can copy your data from QBSE to QBO and ensure all transactions will be available inside QBO. Also, please be aware that if you wish to use this method to transfer data, you'll need to upgrade your current plan to QBO. We'll outline the steps to get you going:

 

  1. Access your QuickBooks Self-Employed company.
  2. Go to Gear icon and then from the Profile column, select Upgrade.
  3. Click Choose plan on the one that you prefer.
  4. Review the changes in features, then select Sounds good.
  5. If you want to copy your data to QuickBooks Online, select Bring my data. To bring your data, follow the steps to categorize open transactions and mark the paid invoices.
  6. Review the summary of data that you'll move to QuickBooks Online.
  7. Select Continue, then To QuickBooks Online!
  8. Double-check your payment method, then select Change plan. If you need to change payment method, click the ✎ Edit.
  9. Answer or confirm ‌a few details about your business to start using QuickBooks Online.
