Question

Is there a way to list Customers / Companies in ascending order? Quickbooks shows 1, 12, 2, 27, 3, etc... it's out of chronological order and very frustrating.

Each of my customers is a homeowner and I've assigned their unit number in the Company field. However, Quickbooks doesn't list chronologically. It lists alphabetically, which is very annoying. I either have to put A - Name, B - Name, C - Name in the customer name field to get them to show in the order I want, and I don't want the customer's names to appear that way.

Arranging the customers or companies by numbers chronologically is unavailable, board-nchoa. I'll share additional details and a workaround for this matter.

QuickBooks Online always uses the first name when sorting out the list. Even if you put cardinal numbers to organize them accordingly, the system will place all the customers with the same figure at the top, regardless of the digits. That's why one (1) is followed by twelve (12), two (2) by twenty-seven (27), and then three (3) are working as designed.

In the meantime, you can export the customer list to Excel and organize them there based on their unit numbers.

Furthermore, you'll want to consider submitting a suggestion to our developers. They will review it for future updates. However, please know that it depends on the number of user requests.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Profile column, select Feedback.
