Question

Is there a way to put a cap on the amount of late fees charged if set up daily? We can only charge 10% a month legally in my state. My boss wants penalties added weekly.

I see that QBO only offers daily and monthly automated late fees. But I'm wondering if there's a way to set it up daily but where it caps at 10% per month.

Hey there, @ruthieb1962.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. I hope you're having a great day so far.

Once you turn on the Late Fee feature in QuickBooks Online, you do have the option to turn on daily fees. I'll walk you through the process below.

  1. Click on the Gear Icon
  2. Choose Account and Settings
  3. Go to the Sales tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Late Fee section.
  5. Enable the feature.
  6. Select the type of fee (flat rate or percentage).
  7. Then, select the frequency.

That should do the trick. For more information about this process, Apply late fees to overdue invoices

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I'm always around to lend a hand. Have a good one!
