Question

Is there a way to see how much of a product or service has previously been invoiced and how much is remaining when creating a progress invoice from an estimate?

Yes, there is, @JWarrenCO. Allow me to provide a step-by-step guide on how you can run a report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to show the invoiced amount and the remaining amount of your progress invoicing.

In QBO, you can generate the Estimates & Progress Invoicing Summary by Customer report to display the status of your estimates, how much has been invoiced, the percentage invoiced, and the remaining amount to receive. To do that:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Search for the Estimates & Progress Invoicing Summary by Customer report.
  3. Customize the report as needed.
  4. Then, click Run Report.

Furthermore, we can schedule reports in QBO so you can send them at a regular and recurring period.

Please know you're always welcome to post in the Community whenever you have additional questions about progress invoicing. I will respond promptly to provide you with further assistance. Have a wonderful rest of the day, and stay safe.

When I go to Reports and search for Estimates & Progress Invoicing Summary by Customer I get the result "We couldn't find transactions that match your search. Expand your search and try again."

Thanks for reaching back, @JWarrenCO. I've got some troubleshooting steps to help you access the Estimates and Progress Invoicing Summary by Customer report page and get your work done promptly.

Occasionally, too much cache buildup in a browser can cause unexpected behavior with the product. To clean this up, I recommend accessing your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private or incognito window. Please utilize these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

Once signed in, go to the Reports menu and search for the report again. If it works without error, that's good news. You can go back to your regular browsing history and clear its cache. You can also log in to your account using other supported browsers like Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and Microsoft Edge to know what browser you need for the best experience when using QuickBooks.

Moreover, you have the option to customize the reports in QBO to focus on the details that you need. After that, you can save the current settings by clicking Save Customization. That way, you won’t have to go through the customization process again in case you need the same information in the future.

If you have additional questions when running reports, let me know in the comments below. I'll be here to answer them for you.
