Question

Is there a way to see which categorized transactions don't have receipts attached?

When I categorized each transaction, I didn't have a receipt for some of those transactions ready for upload yet. Now, I want to go back through and make sure to upload any missing receipts, but I can't figure out an easy way to see which transactions do and don't have receipts. Is there a way to see this easily?

Welcome to the Community space, Hannah.

Let me help you look for the categorized transactions without attached receipts.

We'll need to go to the Chart of accounts and look for the Bank account where you categorized the transactions that have no receipt attached. Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions.
  2. Select Chart of accounts.
  3. Look for the bank account where you categorized the transactions. You can search for it in the Filter by name or numb field.
  4. Once it shows, click the View register below the Actions
  5. Tap the Gear icon beside the Print and Export to Excel tab.
  6. Tick the Attachments box so the attachment column will show on the main page. You will then see the transactions that don't have and have attachments.
  7. You can also click the Funnel icon on the left side to filter the date.

You might want to learn how to find transactions in your account registers so you can review or update them to ensure your data stays accurate: Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers in QuickBooks Online.

How can I find this on the Desktop version? I need to track missing receipts.

I have some information to share with you regarding how to track missing receipts in QuickBooks Desktop, SaraSkittles.

QBO and QBDT have unique platforms. So, they offer different transaction features. To address your concern, you'll need to manually check the transaction and confirm if there's a receipt attached to it. See the screenshot for reference.

Also, you can check out the attached folder for your uploaded receipt. It is in the same location where you saved your company file. To help you upload your other receipts in QuickBooks, see this article: Upload receipts to QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.

Additionally, I have included some articles that can assist you in managing bank entries within the system.

If you have questions or concerns about tracking receipts in QBDT, please let me know. I want to ensure everything is in order for you. Stay safe.
