Question

Is there a way to separate accounts to customize a balance sheet? I have two businesses and have imported all bank statements and credit card accounts into quickbooks.

I would also like to run an individual report for each account. Is this possible?

Hi there, revivalwheelerma.

Separating accounts isn't possible in QuickBooks Online (QBO). In compliance with tax form laws and to ensure that your books are organized, QBO only allows one company file per subscription. Thus, I recommend signing up for another QBO account for your second business. You can visit this article for detailed steps: Create or add another company file to QuickBooks Online.

About your additional concern, you can also focus on a specific account instead of running reports for everything. Follow these steps to proceed:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts
  2. Find the account.
  3. Select Run report in the Action column or from the View register dropdown list.

Furthermore, I've also included additional articles that can be useful in managing your reports and how to reconcile your accounts.

Fill me in if you have other concerns aside from managing your financial reports. I'll be here anytime to help you.
