Journal Entry Import

I have had issues with importing journal entries where extra spaces are being added to account names, causing the import to fail.  Some I can resolve by copying the account from a journal entry screen itself and pasting into the excel file.  Sometimes even that won't resolve the issue and I know the account exists.  Has anyone else had issues importing journal entries?

Thanks for letting us know, MBZI. Let's work to fix the issue when importing your journal entries in Quickbooks Online(QBO).

Since you can import some files by copying the account from the journal entry to Excel, the issue likely lies in your Excel file. To resolve this, review and remove extra spaces before importing.

When you're ready to import, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Settings then select Import Data.
  2. Click on Journal Entries.
  3. On the Download page, hit Browse
  4. Note: If you need help formatting your journal entries, select Download a sample file.
  5. Select your CSV file and press Open, then Next.
  6. Map your information and choose the one that matches a field in QBO from each dropdown icon,
  7. Proceed to Next then Start import.
  8. Tick Done.

You can learn more about CSV file format in Excel to import transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, when you've successfully uploaded your journal entries, you can utilize the search function to review and edit them.

Keep me posted if you need anything else besides importing your journal entries. I'm always around here in the Community forum to help. Stay safe!
