When we try to review or match a receipt about half the time we get the following error: The uploaded filename or file extension is invalid. Supplied Content Type: File Content Type:application/pdf

Does anyone why this is happening?

Thank you!

I know how important it is to have an efficient and seamless process for managing receipts, WhiteFields. Allow me to share additional details to assist in resolving this query.

The issue you're experiencing occurs when QuickBooks Online (QBO) is unable to process the uploaded file. Here are the potential causes and solutions:

  1. File Corruption: The PDF file might be corrupted or improperly formatted.
  2. Unsupported File Features: Some PDF files contain embedded elements like images or non-standard fonts that may cause compatibility issues.
  3. Problematic File Name: If the file name has special characters, or spaces, or is too long.

To resolve this, ensure you're using PDF, JPEG, JPG, GIF, and PNG images. If you have a newer iPhone or iPad, check if the images are in HEIC format. You can convert HEIC images to a compatible format.

If everything looks good, re-upload the receipts in supported formats to check if the issue continues. Alternatively, you can upload the receipts directly from your computer instead of using Google.
