Question

Moving companies between intuit profiles

I have a company on QBO since 2021 but need to move it to a different Intuit account due to multiple reasons. Because this is NOT a desktop to QBO move, there isn't any kind of migration thing I can do here and imports are limited so this is what I am looking to do and I hope someone has a good way forward: I do NOT want to import and categorize every sales/expense transaction since 2021. I would like to put in all numbers off P&L and balance sheet either from 12/31/2023 or I can do it from 12/31 of 2021, 2022, and 2023 either way. And then I will import and categorize all transactions for 2024.

Is this possible? I can't seem to wrap my brain around a solution. I know all the register accounts I need to add numbers to but don't know what account is on the other side of the journal entry. Single member LLC btw. TIA!

It's a pleasure to have you in the Community, Digitalstagebooks. I’m excited to share valuable information about transferring data between your QuickBooks Online (QBO) accounts.

When you move your existing lists from one QBO account to another, there are selected transferrable data that you can import, including the following:

  • Chart of accounts
  • Customers and vendors
  • Products and services
  • Invoices and bills
  • Bank and credit card transactions

Moreover, to ensure a smooth data importation, I recommend checking out this comprehensive article: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online.

Since you don't want to import and categorize every sales or expense transaction from 2021, you can lump sum the total account balances for the year using a Journal Entry. Consider seeking assistance from your accountant for this. They can use the financial reports from the previous company as a reference.

Furthermore, we’ve compiled some frequently asked questions about importing data here: Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online.

Remember, we're always here for any follow-up questions or concerns about this process to ensure your data transfer goes as smoothly as possible.
