Multi currency

Hello - in my Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020 program, I have a Company file that I have been working with for about 2 years now.

Given recent changes in the business operations, I will need to activate the multi-currency feature within QB, to handle both USD and CDN currencies.   Prior to activating the multi currencies, is there anything I need to be aware of pertaining to my vendors listing, customer listing, or bank account balances?    Some of the vendors and customers will need to be switched from the base/home currency, along with one of the bank balances (which I have just been manually converting).   Does any one if there errors or historical balance issues that will occur will when I activate the multi currency feature?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be glad to help with your questions about using multicurrency in QuickBooks Desktop, MikeyB.

Here are a few things to consider before turning on the Multicurrency feature:

  • Once you activate it, the feature can no longer be turned off again.
  • Your Home currency can't be changed once set up.
  • Please take note that customer's and vendor's currencies can't be changed for names that already have transactions recorded against them.
  • Old bank accounts will have the same currency as your selected home currency.

Hello! I purchased a Quickbooks Online Plus subscription yesterday, I tried to enable the multi-currency feature, I don’t even have the Currency feature in the menu. Help me please.

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

According to your subscription plan, you should be able to use the multi-currency feature.

However, since you mentioned that you are not seeing the feature in the menu, let's troubleshoot your web browser to identify the cause of this issue. This will help us make sure that everything is working correctly.

You can follow these steps:

  1. Let's make sure the web browser you're using is compatible with QuickBooks Online.
  2. Try accessing your account using the incognito window.
  3. Reopen your browser.
  4. Clear cache and cookies.

If the issue continues after performing the steps above, I recommend you contact our Customer Care Support Team to investigate this further and provide you with detailed information on why the feature is not visible on your end.

Moreover, you may want to check these articles to guide you on setting up your account after signing up for QuickBooks Online: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks Online.

You're always to come back here in the Community if you need help with any QBO features and processes. I'm always available to help.

@MikeyB

You may purchase a 3rd party service to disable the multi currency feature later if required.

As for your your existing data, you may need a migration tool to change the currency in bulk. You will export the data out to XLS, modify it, and import it back into your file.

I switch to multi-currency for one customer billing but desperately need to change back in order to create batch invoicing. Is there a third party company that can help with this? thanks

Are you using QB Online and need to disable the multicurrency feature?
