My chart of accounts is in the correct order, but when I print a report, the order is all mixed up.

I use the default setting for my chart of accounts.  When I print a report, the accounts are not in this order; instead they are all mixed up.  This is a memorized profit and loss detail report that was in the correct order before I upgraded to QB2020.

I'd be happy to share insight on how to fix it. You can re-sort the lists in the Chart of Accounts (COA).

Here's how:

  1. From the Lists menu, select either Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the All Names checkbox.
  3. Select Edit at the top left of QuickBooks.
  4. Select Re-sort List.
  5. Select OK.

You can then run the memorized profit and loss detail report.

For more details on how to resort lists in the COA, items, or classes list, you can refer to this article: Re-sort lists in QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to leave a message to this post if you have more concerns. I'll keep my notifications open. Have a great rest of your day!
