Question

My husband, an attorney, was scammed by an overseas person who claimed he needed new printer drivers. Do we have to make this a personal expense?

The total is about 1100 dollars. I have blocked the scammer and am dealing with the aftermath.

Hello there, Gail

Let me share insights regarding an expense item in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

In using QBSE, you can record it as a Business Expense or a Personal Expense. If you record it as a Business expense, it can be claimed against proceeds to reduce taxes and save money, while Personal expenses cannot lower taxes for your business.

In recording this expense, seeking advice from your accountant is highly recommended, as it significantly impacts your business. If you need an accountant for your business, I can help you find one by visiting this page to get started: Find a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
