I can not get the new update to invoices. When I click on "UPDATE LAYOUT" it goes to the new layout for a few seconds and then goes back to the old layout.

Hi, @aw05925.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community about this.

A cache-related issue is likely causing you to switch back to the old invoice layout. In this case, let’s do some troubleshooting steps to fix this.

We can use a private or incognito window to rule out cache issues in your browser. Here are the shortcut keys:

  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari BrowserCommand + Shift + N

Log in to your QuickBooks Online account then switch to the new layout. When it works, you can clear the browser's cache. This removes the webpage data that’s causing the issue.

You can also add Intuit as a trusted site to ensure all Intuit-related browser plugins are working properly.

Although, you can use other supported browsers to use the new layout.

Also, I’m sure these articles will help you manage your invoices in the future:

Hello.

I am having the same issue, and cleaning cache didn't make it work.

I has been like this for a while. Some days it works, some days it doesn't.

Any other recommendation on how to get it to work?

Thanks

I appreciate you joining this thread, and considering the steps shared by my colleague above, ctmontoya. I'm here to provide further details.

Our engineers are currently investigating the issue of the invoice layout reverting to the old experience instead of remaining on the new experience.

For now, I recommend contacting our Support Team to add your company details to the list of affected users. Rest assured we will provide an update once information is available. Here's how:

  1. Within your QBO account, go to Help in the upper-right corner.
  2. In the Search tab, click Contact us.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern.
  4. Click Continue.

While waiting for a resolution, you can read through this article to explore the new estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online: See what's new with estimates and invoices. This article also contains additional links that provide information about the new layout.

Be sure to post in the Community if you have other questions about invoices and QuickBooks new experience.

I've been having the same issue - Was there any resolution to this?  It's not cache related.

Mine was fixed last week. Seems to be working fine now

I understand how convenient the new invoice layout is, david_schott.

I've checked our records and there's no reported case where the invoice layout automatically switches to the old display after updating it. Since the recommended solutions are not working on your end, I recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. To reach them, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. Select either tab to get started:
  • Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still Talk to a human.
  • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

For more details and support hours open this article: QuickBooks Online Support. Once it is resolved, you can switch back to the new experience. You can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the + New.
  2. Choose Invoice or Estimate.
  3. Once done, click Try the new invoices.

You can switch to either the old or the new experience at any time. QuickBooks saves all the info from your previous estimates and invoices to ensure that you don't lose your work. Also, when you change between the new and old experiences, the design shown to your customers will change.

Once everything is set, you might want to utilize this link for reference in seamlessly managing your receivables: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

Please bear with us as we're working to resolve this. In case you have any additional questions about invoices, you're always welcome to post them in your reply. I'll be here to answer them for you.

Still happening.... Nothing like $200+/month and Intuit can't get write quality code.

January 29, 2024

Mine's still happening.  I've spent hours on the phone with QBO, and finally gave up.  They have no clue.

June 12, 2024

Finally found a thread that details the issues I started having. Talked on the phone with support and they added me to a list for their coding teams to work on. Looks like unfortunately this has been a problem for at least 8 months that has gone without being fixed. Very disappointing, these minor bugs that I see throughout the QBO interface makes me go crazy with how much I am paying. Wish I went with another software, I don't have the time to convert everything over to another platform.

I am also having the same issue. Has anyone had any success with getting this issue resolved? I just got a new computer and thought that might possibly be the issue, but it is still reverting back to the old layout after about 2 seconds of updating to the new layout. So frustrating. It used to work for me. Now it stopped.

We understand that dealing with the issue regarding invoice layouts automatically reverting to the old display after an update can be incredibly frustrating and disruptive to your financial operations. Navigating these challenges without immediate solutions can feel overwhelming. We empathize with your situation and are here to support you in finding effective ways to resolve this matter.

I am dedicated to providing reliable insight to help you resolve this issue. To do so, we can try signing in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser or "incognito" mode. A private window is a helpful tool for troubleshooting browser-related difficulties because it won't preserve any history. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
Safari: press Command + Shift + N

You can use another supported browser. Possible that your current browser may have a temporary issue with QuickBooks.

However, if the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. They have the tools necessary to diagnose and resolve the problem. You can be assured that they will work diligently to identify the underlying cause and provide an effective solution. If needed, they may initiate an investigation for further analysis. I will guide you on how to reach out to them, and together we will work to resolve this issue:

1. Access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company, go to Help (?).
2. Choose either of these tabs:

  • Assistant tab and type Talk to a human.
  • Search tab and click on Contact Us to connect with a support expert.

3. Select the preferred method of contact (phone or chat).

I don’t want to leave you empty-handed here. I’m adding some links that will guide you on how to receive and record invoice payments. Also, to learn how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms in QuickBooks Online:

We genuinely appreciate your patience as we work diligently to resolve this issue. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or need assistance with managing your invoice layout in QuickBooks. I'm here to help!
