Hi there, tespin1223.

Can you tell us what happens when you select or add a sales tax when creating an invoice? I'll share some steps that can help us make sure that can resolve some of the most common unexpected result and error when using the the QBO mobile app.

If you're using an Android device, go to the More Options ⋮ menu, then select Settings. Tap Refresh Data, and then choose Yes.

For iOS, go to Menu ☰, then select Help & Feedback. Look for Refresh Data, and then tap Refresh.

After that, log back in to the app and create an invoice to check if you're able to add sales tax. You might also need to uninstall and reinstall the app just in case the issue persists.

Let me share this article as well where you can access some of the most commonly used self-help and guide articles for QBO app: Mobile Applications Hub.

Did you ever get this resolved? I have been back and forth for 8 hours today and no one can help me. I don't even have a button that says to refresh the app?!

Thanks for joining this thread, @kay9 Stroll Patrol.

If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO) Mobile app, you'll see the Refresh Data button on the Settings & Help page (for Android) and on the Help & Feedback section (for iOS). To do so, please refer to the steps provided by my colleague, JenoP.

You can also do it in your device settings. Let me guide you on how:

Android:

  1. Navigate to your device's Settings, click Apps (varies by device).
  2. Select the QuickBooks app and choose Storage.
  3. Then, click Clear data.

iOS:

  1. Go to your device's Settings, click Setting General iPhone Storage.
  2. Select an app that's taking up a lot of space.
  3. Then, click Offload App to free up the storage without deleting the documents and data for the app.

When done, try applying a sales tax to the invoice again.

If you still experience the same thing, I recommend logging in to your account using a web browser. Once signed in, create an invoice again and apply sales tax.

Just in case you'll need to add new sales tax rates using the QBO mobile app, below are the links that can help you depending on the device you use:

If there is anything else I can do to further help you applying sales tax on your invoice, please post a response below. I am always available to help in case you need it. Take care.

I can apply the tax through a web browser but I like using the app. I've tried everything and the tax just gets removed after I send the invoice.
