Question

New Implementation. Open Bills from Last Year

I am going live on QB effective 1/1/2024.  There are unpaid accounts payable invoices from 2023 that I need enter into QB.  The expenses for these invoices are already captured in my 2023 year-end balance for my AP general ledger account.  I need to enter the 2023 invoices but need them to have no GL affect, or is there another way to enter these invoices?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Community, @steve48.

I'd be glad to help and provide information to enter bills from 2023 in QuickBooks Online (QBO) without affecting your General Ledger.

You can enter bills with the correct date to ensure they only appear in 2023 reports and affect the 2023 GL accounts. However, I suggest to reach out to your accountant for more accurate information.

Here's how to enter bills:

  1. Select +New, and select Bill.
  2. Select a Vendor.
  3. Filter the Bill date and due date to 2023.
  4. Enter the bill details.
  5. Select Save and Close.

For future reference, you can check this article to guide you in customizing your reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to leave a comment below if you have any further questions about entering bills or other QBO-related concerns. I'll do my best to assist you in every way possible.
