Question

no new transactions available

No new transactions available and the "click here" link is broken.  I know this has been an issue in the past, however now discussions on this also seem to have been deleted from here.  I understand it has something to do with multiple downloads, but if I can't find the information in the register or anywhere else, giving an error msg with no solution isn't very helpful. Please advise.  (downloaded QBO bank file and want to import it into the check register)

Hello there, @sheelsells.

I appreciate the things you've done. I know how this process takes time when you're unable to download bank transactions into QuickBooks Online (QBO). We'd want to make sure that we get this sorted out.

To start, I recommend updating your bank manually in the system to refresh its connection.

To do that:

  1. Right-click the account, then choose Edit Account.
  2. Click the Bank Feed Settings tab.
  3. Hit  Deactivate All Online Services and then OK to confirm.
  4. Tick Save and Close.

Then, we can proceed to import the QBO file:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Hit Utilities and then Import.
  3. Choose Import Web Connect Files, then click the QBO file you've downloaded.
  4. Select an existing account to import transactions. Check the bank labelAccount Type, and Account number to select the correct Account in QuickBooks
  5. Select Continue. You'll see a dialogue box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Select OK.
  6. Tap on the Transaction List to review transactions. Assign Vendor Records and expense/income accounts before adding transactions to the register.
  7. After you've set up Vendor Records and Accounts, you can start adding transactions to the register. After that, the rename rule creation dialog will appear, which you can utilize the next time.

If you see an error when disconnecting an account, here's how to fix Bank Feed errors

1. I had previously disconnected any bank feeds.

2. I wanted the solution for the error of "no new transactions available"  - the directions were for the normal import, not what happens when there is an error msg that has a broken link in it.  (I had previously downloaded the time period, but it didn't upload to the register, so after attempting again, I understand that the system somehow thinks it's protecting itself for duplicates, but the data is no where in the system, so how do I resolve this without hand entering all the data?)

3. I was looking for the reason the import no longer goes right into the register to work with vs "transaction list" for  unneccesary additional steps in the process?

4. I have also selected the classic mode for Bank feed modes.

All I want to do is download from my bank - not auto - to a qbo file and import directly to the register.  This didn't used to be an issue.  I could have hand entered the entire years data in the time I have attempted to get this resolved, there is no value to downloads or this program any longer if I am just going to enter every detail manually.

Hi, @sheelasells.

Thank you for sharing additional details when trying to import your bank transactions. It's my priority to help you bring them to QuickBooks successfully and fix the error.

You should be able to bring your bank data to QuickBooks using the Web Connect process. However, the no new transactions error can happen when:

  • The file doesn’t contain any new transactions.
  • The transactions have already been imported.
  • Your Web Connect (.QBO) statement covers dates previously imported into the company file.
  • The QBDT file is damaged.

Since you've downloaded the file with the same period previously but aren't uploaded it on your register, you might need to create a new bank account to isolate the issue, then upload your file from there.

  1. Go to the Lists menu, then click on Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click on New, then choose a bank for the Account type.
  3. Enter the bank name and other details.
  4. Click on Save and Close.

Once the file is uploaded to the new account, merge it to your existing account to transfer the transactions.

  1. Tap on Chart of Accounts from the Lists menu.
  2. Copy the name of the entry you want to keep.
  3. Right-click the entry you don’t want to use, then select Edit.
  4. Paste the name you copied, then select Save & Close.
  5. Select Yes to merge the entries.

If the solution doesn't work, I suggest updating your QBDT to keep your software updated and fix common errors. You can also use the QuickBooks Tool Hub to narrow down the result. See these links as your guide:

Once the transactions are available on your account, review and categorize the entries.
