Question

On the invoice I sent out yesterday, instead of the box that usually says "Pay Invoice", the box says "View Details." Consequently, my client cannot pay on line. Help!

Let's explore troubleshooting options to ensure your customers can pay invoices online, @mamajoy.

In QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), the View Details option is displayed if you've not activated QuickBooks Payments. It's an add-on product allowing customers to pay directly from the invoice.

If you haven't yet, let's turn on QuickBooks Payments to activate online payments. Here's how:

  1. Go to Invoices.
  2. Select Create Invoice.
  3. Click the Payments dropdown in the right menu bar, then Activate Payments.
  4. Fill in the required fields and follow the onscreen steps to continue.

If you've already enabled it, we can troubleshoot your browser to empty the outdated cache that causes the issue. First, access your account in a private window to access the program with a fresh start. You may utilize the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Shift + N

Once resolved, please return to your default browser to clear its cache or utilize another compatible window. It could be a temporary issue with QBO or the browser you're using.

Additionally, you'll want to link your bank accounts in QBSE to skip manual data entry and download your recent transactions automatically.
