Hi, I would like to create a report that shows all our open sales orders totaled by due date (preferably month), so we can get a good look at our future sales. I'd like to see the total sales scheduled to close in October, November, and December, for instance.  Thank you.

You can create a transaction detail report that shows the Due Date, and sort on the Due Date, but there isn't a way to total by the Due Date month (or any other date's Month, as far as I know) within QuickBooks.

Probably the best way using QB reports is to export such a report to Excel and then subtotal it by month manually.

Greetings, @pantone06.

I appreciate you visiting us here again in the Community. Allow me to chime in and add some information about the report you'd like to run in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

As mentioned by BigRedConsulting above, the option to pull up the Open Sales Order by Due Date report is unavailable in QBDT. However, you can run the Open Sales Order by Customer report instead. Then, customize it to add the Due Date.

Here's how to do it:

  1. In QBDT, go to the Reports menu at the top.
  2. In the drop-down, select Sales, then Open Sales Order by Customer.
  3. Click the Customize Report option at the upper left.
  4. In the Display column, tick the Due Date in the Columns section.
  5. Hit OK to refresh the report.

You can also check out this article for more information about customizing sales and other reports in QBDT: Customize customer, job, and sales reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

In case you need it, I'm adding this article that tackles exporting reports to Excel for future reference: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.

Fill me in if you have further questions. I'll be around if you need any help.
