Our invoices are auto-populating with new invoice numbers. How do I stop it and go back to the original invoice numbering? QB Online and the Desktop app...

Thanks for the response, @donmoss.

Yes, that does make sense. Once you followed my colleague's @IamjuViel steps, then you can open an Invoice to correct the number then hit Save. Once you've changed the Invoice Number, then it will go up from there. Here's a Community Article that explains this process more in detail with a video and steps: How to change the invoice number on sales forms.

Hello, @donmoss.

Let's make sure that your QuickBooks account is set up so you'll be able to change your invoice numbers.

  1. Go to the Gear Icon.
  2. Choose the Sales menu.
  3. Scroll down to the Sales form content section.
  4. Put a checkmark on the Custom Transaction Numbers tick box.
  5. Click the Save button.
  6. Hit Done.

Get back to us here if you have other questions. I'm always here to help.

Let me explain it better. The last regular number that was used was 02546. Now they are NGC001. I need the next number to be 02547 and go up from there? Not sure how this happened but I need it changed back.

Does that make sense?
