Paypal recipts and crediting donors with the full amount before the fee

We recently started using PayPal for our nonprofit donations.  They take their fee before it hits our bank, but I want to credit my donors with the full amount.  How do I enter these transactions to give full credit to my donor and account for the PayPal fee.  Thank you in advance for direction

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Betty W 86406! I'll be happy to shed some light here. Once your donors are set up as customers, you'd need to add a line item to the donation transaction representing the PayPal fee. 

 

  1.  Go to Sales section and hit +New, then Sales Receipt.
  2. Add the customer details and payment process.
  3. Add the donation line item. You can choose Charitable Contributions or create a new product/service specifically for the donations.
  4. Enter the amount and any other necessary information/ memo.
  5. Add a line item with a negative amount to represent the PayPal fee handling.
  6. Hit Save and Close.
