I'm trying to edit the detail type on several Charts of Accounts. It won't let me change the type from a COGs type to Insurance, etc. It's so odd. A very simple change should be allowed. but it doesn't seem to take. Suggestions?

Hello onpar072-gmail-c,

You may be experiencing some browser-related issues. That said, try performing troubleshooting steps to isolate where the issue comes from.

To start with, try reviewing the updates on an incognito window. It is the best place to identify browser-related concerns. I've added these keyboard keys to open one:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

If it updates, you can go back to a regular browser and clear its cache . Once caches are piled up, it can cause unexpected issues on the opened pages.

You also have the option to switch to a different browser like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.

I've also added this reference as your guide in modifying an account: Taming the chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be around if ever you need help in categorizing the items. Keep safe!

This doesn't resolve this issue. It's a coding glitch.

There is a pop-up window stacked on top of another confirmation window that doesn't allow you to click and "advance" to the confirmation screen. This is simply bad CSS script coding and affects all browsers equally. It's not related to clearing cached data sets.
