QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

One of my users just installed QuickBooks 2022 and now can't export one specific report to Excel 2016 (32bit). When trying to run the Client Ready Payroll Report which exports to Excel she receives an error :Unable to connect to QuickBooks - Error: 2147221000 : Method 'Get Module' of object IRunning Instance Info' failed All of the latest updates have been installed for Windows 10 Pro, QuickBooks 2022 and Excel. We've tried all of the normal trouble shooting items including uninstalling and reinstalling both QuickBooks and Excel.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for posting this payroll reporting concern here in the QuickBooks Support page, @putrlady.

I can share some insights on how to resolve this concern so you don't encounter this error in the future.

Previously, other users had reported the same concern as yours. With this our Investigation Team have released some updates and confirmed that the Client Ready reports do work with 64bit version of Excel.

QuickBooks 2022 is 64bit, therefore, it will need 64 bit version of Office to maximize performance. Once you have this version, make sure the latest release for QuickBooks Desktop 2022 and payroll updates are downloaded before attempting to open the Client Ready reports.

See the following link to learn more about the recent updates in our program: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop 2020

For the steps to update your software, use this link. You can also install the update patch manually through these steps:

  1. Go to the Downloads & Updates page.
  2. Choose US for the country.
  3. Below the survey, click on the standard setup link.
  4. On the next page, enter your QuickBooks version to update then press Search.
  5. To download the patch, click the link for Get the latest updates.
  6. At the bottom once the patch is downloaded completely, wait until it launches automatically. You can also double-click on it to apply the update.

To download the latest payroll tax table update version 22116. You can check that by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Employees tab.
  2. Select Get Payroll Updates.
  3. You'll see the tax table version beside the Payroll Update Info button.
  4. Click on Download Latest Update if the update version is not correct. An informational window appears when the download is complete.

Once we get the latest updates installed things, Client Reports are expected to work with your new 2022 version.

Please visit us again if there are other reporting or QuickBooks concerns you need help with. I'll be more than happy to help you out. All the best!

Thank you for the response.

After posting my original message, my user decided to upgrade to Office 365. After uninstalling Office 2016, and thinking she was getting the 64 bit version of Office 365, the Payroll report issue remains. I just checked and she actually installed the 32 bit version of Office 365. I will be removing the 32bit version tomorrow AM and installing the 64bit version. All QuickBooks 2022 updates have been installed although I noted some of your answer seemed to be referring to earlier versions of QuickBooks.

I'll reply again after getting the 64bit version of Office 365 installed.

Had the same error on the certified payroll report in QB Enterprise 2021. Our resolution was to uninstall office 32bit (then uninstall access database engine 32bit 2007 & 2010...) then install office 64bit. We were using Microsoft 365 (which should have kept its old name of Office 365).

Hope that helps someone in the future.

*we had already repaired the installation of MS office & QB which hopefully didn't break our multiuser access.

I am having the same issues with the error message; but it only comes about when I am trying to e-file my State SUI payroll tax returns.  The issue has only occurred in 2022 version of QB's; I still use 2020 version for one client, and I had no problem.  I have also noticed if I try to create the Tax form worksheets or Local tax summary, I get to the security warning- Macros have been disabled; but there is no option to "enable".  When I click on options I get a "Security Alert - Macros" message - with a warning "The digital signature has been tampered with after the content was signed.  This content cannot be trusted."  Is this all related to the 32bit/64bit issue or could this be something else?  Thanks!

Hi there, @LA2011.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community about your concern. I'd like to ensure that you'll be able to get past the error that you received so you can utilize QuickBooks smoothly.

Yes, you're right that it will still depend on the 32-bit and 62-bit requirements to run the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). That said, we can also perform the following troubleshooting steps to fix this issue:

To begin, download the latest QuickBooks release. This can help improve the overall performance of the software and fix known issues. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the top to choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Tap the Update Now tab to mark the box for Reset Update.
  3. Click on the Get Updates button to remove the previously downloaded releases.
  4. Hit OK to continue.
  5. Once completed, close and reopen your QuickBooks to kick off the installation.

Then, to ensure the application is compatible with your setup and will help avoid unexpected behavior when using it. The following links provide detailed information about the system requirements for each QuickBooks version: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

If your version is compatible, you can repair Excel to resolve the problem. The repair an office application link contains detailed instructions about the process. If none of these solutions work, follow Steps 4-5 in this article to repair an office application: Fix export to Excel issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, check out this article for more information about several Excel reports available in QuickBooks and how to generate them: Excel-based payroll reports.

Please update me on how things turn out. I'll be around to assist you if there's anything else that you need. Have a great day ahead!

I've downloaded the 2024 of Quickbooks Pro Desktop, I also have the latest 64 bit version of Microsoft Office 365.

I am still getting Error: -2147221000 : Method: Get Module' of object '|Runninginstanceinfo' failed

I've ran all the fixes and I'm still getting this error.

I do not subscribe to payroll.
