My Bank/CC reconciliation reports have suddenly truncated the detail column as you can see in the example below. The same thing occurred in the detail report but it that case I elected options which showed all the possible headings and selecting source name returned the correct result.

I love how attentive you are to your QuickBooks setup, Mitch. Spotting those details is key to ensuring accuracy, and I’m excited to help you align every column and piece of data just right.

The discrepancies in your reconciliation reports stem from underlying data issues. The correct result from the source name option indicates inconsistencies or incomplete data in the dataset.

I recommend running the Verify and Rebuild Data tool in QuickBooks. Verifying the data checks for corruption and ensures all entries are accurate and complete. Rebuilding the data refreshes the information used in reports, helping to eliminate inconsistencies.

Verify Data:

  1. Click the File menu, then hover on Utilities.
  2. Choose Verify Data.
  3. Wait for the process to complete and follow the on-screen prompts.

Rebuild Data:

  1. When QuickBooks has encountered errors after the Verify process, go to the File menu and hover on Utilities.
  2. Select Rebuild Data this time.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to rebuild the data successfully.

For more detailed guidance on these steps, I recommend checking out this resource article, which provides a comprehensive overview of the Verify and Rebuild Data tools. Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

I apologise I did email you directly before I checked this site. However just to repeat I had already run the verify tool and it told me the data was OK. I ran both your suggestions and it does seem as if the detail report is now correct and least when I checked on the fields in the report the "Name" not "Source Name" is now selected. The problem remains with the "Reconciliation Report" and as you know it does not have the option of selecting the fields in the report. It may not be relevant but to allow me to proceed I exported the Reconciliation Report to Excel and although initially the detail field showed as it did in QB clicking on the column expanded it to reveal all the data. So the data must be present in QB I just cannot adjust the field width in the report.

Thank you again
