Quickbooks Desktop not filtering classes in reports

It seems that I put class on a invoice, however I can't get all of the classes to filter on a P and L. For instance I'll have a invoice the has the class "parts only" and one will show up on the P and L when I filter on "class" but next will not.  For example the Klein steel invoice (Class PM) below has a class on the invoice, but is showing up blank on the report:

Thanks for sharing the details with us, jth21usa1.

I understand the need to pull up the classes assigned to invoices using the Profit & Loss report. With this, I have some information and troubleshooting steps to address this matter.

Each transaction consists of a header and a detail portion, except for journal entries. Classes are attached to the detail portion of the transactions, not the header accounts. Therefore, bank accounts, loan accounts, and all header types of accounts cannot be linked to a class on the reports. On an invoice, the accounts receivable (A/R) is considered the header, and the income account linked to the product or service is the detail.

Let's review the transaction to check if there are classes appointed. If you've confirmed and it's still missing on the report, your data might be damaged. We can fix this by verifying and rebuilding data. Just make sure to back up your data first before proceeding.

Verify Data:

  1. Press the File menu.
  2. Choose Utilities from the drop-down option.
  3. Select Verify Data.
  4. Tap Ok to continue.

Rebuild Data:

  1. Click the File tab at the top.
  2. Select Utilities from the drop-down option.
  3. Choose Rebuild Data.
  4. Click Ok on Rebuild has completed.
