Quickbooks Desktop - Transactions by Account - Account Number Question

If I create a report in Transactions by Account, I can currently see the Account number by choosing Customize Report --> Display --> Check off the Account column.

To save space and not have the Account repeating all over the report is there a way to make the Account number simply show up in the Header or Footer of the report?

Thanks for connecting with us, @GoatYoga. Let me share the steps on how we can move the Account number in the header or footer section of the report when running Transaction Detail by Account in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Currently, we're unable to customize the report so the Account number appears in the header or footer. However, we can export it to Excel, so we'll have the flexibility to personalize the layout of our reports.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Accountant & Taxes, and click Transaction Detail by Account.
  3. Select the Excel toolbar.
  4. If you want to create a new Excel workbook, choose Create New Worksheet. However, select Update Existing Worksheet to update an existing workbook with the data in the open report.
  5. Click Advanced if you want to format the data specifically (Optional). Then, click OK.
  6. Select Export.

Furthermore, we can memorize reports in QBDT to save their customization settings. This way, we'll have quick access to your frequently used reports, and won't have to repeat the customization process.

Please don't hesitate to return to this thread if you've got additional concerns with reports. The Community is always here to back you up. Take care, and have a good one!
