Quickbooks has been so SLOW! It crashes often when I try to open an invoice. What am I missing? Is my database too large? I waste so much time it hangs 50% of the time.

I'd be glad to help keep your QuickBooks Online run smoothly, sga3.

For the best performance, it's generally recommended to use Google Chrome. If the issue persists, you might want to close other open programs or browser tabs that you are not currently using to speed up QuickBooks Online.

Each program or tab in your search engine uses your system's resources, and if too many are open, this can cause QuickBooks to run slowly.

However, if it's still running slow, we can do some of the basic troubleshooting steps by accessing your account in a private window.

Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P.

Once signed in, open an invoice from there. If it rectifies the issue, go back to your main browser and clear its cache to remove the portal's history. You may also try accessing your account using another supported browser.

Additionally, you can visit the following write-up: Sales and customers. This will provide you links on how to manage your company income as well as sales invoice.

I'm only a post away if I can be of additional assistance or need more help with QuickBooks invoices. I'll be around to keep helping. Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week.

Hi, sga3.

Hope you're doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about the QuickBooks Online performance you had yesterday. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I'd be happy to help you at anytime.

Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!

Thank you so much.  It was the cache that needed to be cleared.  I am so upset with myself for not having asked this question before, I wasted so much time with the slow system.  It was quite an easy fix.  Thank you Rose!

i dont think it can handle large databases, they should just say if this is the problem and not allow business that needs lot of data to use their service instead of given them a ridiculously limited one, going through issues 10x worse than this and no one is solving in on their end!!

I'm having the same issue since last Friday. When we click on customer invoice, it's slow to open, then it's slow to be able to move around in it and it's slow to save and send. I called Monday morning, Tuesday afternoon & no fix! It's been going on since last Friday! I'm so frustrated because it's impossible to invoice our customers or create new invoices! They need to move this to the top of their priority to fix or I'm finding a new database to use and transfer all our information over at the start of 2023!

I wish you didn't have to experience all that, EliteFence2003.

At Intuit, we take performance seriously. Speed issues in QuickBooks Online could be browser-related. The outdated stored cache can affect the program.

Let's try to create an invoice via a private window. Doing so helps us determine if there's an issue with the browser.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + P

If it works, I'd suggest clearing the browser's cache to ensure the program performs efficiently.

You can also use other supported browsers if private browsing doesn't work.

For more info about improving the program's performance, please see this article: QuickBooks Online is Slow.

If none of these fixes the issue, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team again. I understand you've reached out to them, but they have the tools to investigate its cause.

Additionally, I've added an article that'll help you personalize your sales forms to specific info that matters most to your business: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts.

I appreciate your understanding on this matter. Please keep us posted if you need additional assistance tracking and managing your invoice and payments. We're always here to help.

Same, QuickBooks crashes without saving invoices wasting an enormous amount of time, started 2 months ago, have no files on my computer, nothing else running and new modem, still happening. It used to work fine. Have tried everything, currently hate the QuickBooks program and would not recommend it to anyone. Looking for new accounting software.
