I understand the advantage of having a budget vs. actual reports, @AuntDe.

This report summarizes accounts alongside your actual account totals. It also shows how much you're under or over budget. So, having that kind of visibility and control over your finances is excellent. 

You can create budgets in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced but not in Simple Start and Essentials. Therefore, the budget vs. actual report is not available in these versions.

If you're in a situation where you really need to set a budget and run the report, you may consider upgrading to our Plus or Advanced plan. 

Moreover, you can generate various reports in QuickBooks that provide different aspects of your business. You can also customize them how you want and memorize them. You can use this feature to save the current customization settings of the item.
