Warm greetings, chefc. I see the benefits of having the ability to include a gratuity as an option in your invoices.

Please know that there's no direct way to add an option for gratuity in your invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Alternatively, you can record or add the gratuity as a product or service line item in an invoice.

If you already created the invoice and received a gratuity, you can edit the transaction and add it as a line item. Here's how:

  1. Hover to the Invoices menu.
  2. Locate the invoice and click Edit.
  3. Click Add another product or service dropdown.
  4. To add the gratuity on the next line item, select Add new.
  5. Enter the desired name, for example, Tip or Gratuity. Choose Flat rate for the Amount type.
  6. Enter the gratuity amount, then Save the transaction.

Meanwhile, if you need to record a new invoice transaction with the gratuity and the product or service item, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Hover to the Invoices menu and click Create invoice.
  2. Select Add new for a new customer or locate the customer name from the dropdown list for an existing customer.
  3. Click Add product or service and tap the dropdown.
  4. To add the Tip on the next line item, select Add new.
  5. Enter the desired name, for example, Tip or Gratuity. Choose Flat rate for the Amount type.
  6. Enter the amount, then click Save.

Thank you, ShyMae. We are aware of being able to add a gratuity on our end but, since we don't know up front what customers want to gratuitize, it's not so helpful.

Perhaps you can get a request to the back end team to add a gratuity add on option on the customer facing side of invoices. Would be super helpful.
