Data reference in your QuickBooks budget, navigate to your budget settings, select the option to "Compare reference data," then choose "Custom Report" from the available data sources, and select the specific custom report you want to use as a reference point for your budget comparison; essentially, you're telling QuickBooks to pull data directly from your custom report when comparing against your budgeted amounts.

I don't have the option to add a custom report?  How do I add a custom report to my reference data options in budgets.

The option to add a custom report as reference data is unavailable, Grand. Let's discuss this in more detail to ensure a clear and accurate understanding.

Creating a Budget report for both Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss isn't possible. You can only select Actuals and Budget as reference data. As a workaround, you can export your Budget and custom report to Excel. From there you can consolidate and compare them.

In QuickBooks Online, you have the handy option to run reports that can give you a clear picture of how your business is performing.

There are many ways to customize your reports. You can filter them to show specific accounts, customers and format the layout so the right data shows up where it's most useful, please refer to this reference: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
