Report Exporting

When exporting detailed reports, they are formatting extremely strange. Always portrait style, and data is spread out across multiple pages. So a 10 page report is 40 pages when I export.

I know I can export to a Spreadsheet, but I'd like it to export simply as it looks on my screen. Is this a known issue?

Exporting the reports according to your preference is important to us, jd76cliff. Let me share some information regarding this.

To begin with, may I ask what's the specific report you want pull up? Sharing additional details such as screenshot will help me address your concerns and provide an accurate solution.

Let's make sure the spreadsheet is up-to-date before exporting the report. The Excel document will rely on the report type obtained from QuickBooks. You'll need to check the date range and details to ensure the accuracy of the report.

Follow these steps to do so:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Export data.
  3. On the Reports tab, set the date range.
  4. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by turning the switch on or off.
  5. Select Export to Excel.

We can also export the report using a private window once you're done verifying the customization, and updating the excel spreadsheet. You can use these shortcut keys for accessing private browsers:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you're able to do so, you can clear your browser's cache  or use other supported browsers to identify if this is related to your current browser.

Afterward, you can refer to this article for more information to learn how to export the report: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, you can also check this article to guide you to save a report to its current customization settings: Memorize reports

These instructions don't seem very clear. What I want to do is print a version of the report as it appears on my screen. I've attached an example of what I see and then what I see as the print/pdf preview.

I don't want to do a excel spreadsheet.

Thank you for your response and for sharing the screenshot, @jd76cliff.

After reviewing the images, it appears that the information in the Memo/Description column is affecting the format. The details displayed when viewing the report differ from what you see when printing.

Please note that when printing reports, all information will be included, unlike the on-screen view in QuickBooks. However, the option to print the report in the same format as it appears on-screen is unavailable.

I recommend submitting this feedback to our developers. They value user suggestions and may consider incorporating them in future updates. Here’s how you can share your thoughts:

  1. Go to Settings and click Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Select Next to submit feedback.

Additionally, QuickBooks Online allows you to customize reports to fit your business needs. Once customized, you can memorize these settings for future use.

If you have any more questions about printing reports in QuickBooks, feel free to post them in the thread. I’d be happy to assist you further!
