Report filters not working

I've been experiencing issues with various reports where the filters are simply not working. I've noticed it this week definitely and possibly the previous week as well. I've called QBO support and they acknowledge it's a problem and that others have reported this issue as well but, as usual, they are not giving any timeline for this fix whatsoever. I end up feeling like they're not taking this seriously, as it does not seem to be acknowledged anywhere on their site. Does anyone know the status of this and ETA for when this will be fixed? It's creating a lot of extra work for me. One of the reports I'm having trouble with involves the employee 401(k) contributions from their paychecks. I use this report to submit the contributions to our 401(k) plan. Thank you.

Let's make sure to fix the issue, skskinny.

May I know the name of the report you're referring to? What specific issues are you experiencing?

There are times that your browser is full of frequently accessed page resources that may have caused some unusual responses. You can log into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account in a private window (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox).
  • Control Option (Safari).

Once signed in, you can try checking if you're able to filter reports. If so, return to your default browser and clear the cache to speed up the loading process. Every so often the cache becomes overwhelmed with older data which can potentially cause viewing and performance issues. Clearing it will refresh the system, and you'll be able to work with a clean slate. However, if the issue persists, you can switch to other supported browsers.

For more information, learn how to export reports and list in case you need a reference. I've added this article for your guide: Export Reports, Lists, and Other Data From QuickBooks Online

Fill me in if you have questions about customizing reports. I'm always here if you need further assistance.

It's not all reports I'm having issues with, just some of them. One of the reports is a customized report filtered by Payroll Checks and some of our payroll liability accounts. The report used to show all transactions that met the filter criteria and now won't show any transactions. I have tried this incognito and in other browsers. Like I said in the original post, the person I spoke with said that it was a known issue so you should have access to more information about this "bug."

Good to see you back here in the Community, @skskinny.

I appreciate you following the steps shared by my colleague above. Allow me to jump in and help fix the issue you're having with the reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

For me to check this for you, may I know the specific reports in QBO that you're referring to? This will help me search for the investigation and provide you with the updates as well as the timeline.

I have the same issue with all my client accounts (on the account version). I've contacted support multiple times with no resolution for the last few years.

1. I generate the P&L detail report > select net income to see details

2. I filter to see only our checking accounts

The report does not work. It still shows me credit card transactions even though the credit card is not selected. Also, when using this report it shows me accounts payable vs the Chart of Accounts item that is mapped to the accounts payable.

If there is no fix for this report, in summary: I need a report to pull showing income & expenses that hit any cash bank accounts within a given date range (excluding credit cards) and to see the chart of accounts categories for those transactions. Basically a P&L just showing cash transactions. This important for cash flow and budgeting.

I am having very similar issues today...What a pain in the neck....I called and was told to pay $500 for a subscription/help or fix "my issue" myself.....Terrible customer service.  Using QB Pro Desktop.

I have the exact same issue with QB Desktop 2021 Accounting Edition. I wasn't able to run reports needed to do billing but repaired from control panel and it worked to correct the issue temporarily. It is now broken again (possibly due to reapplying a broken update).

It's frustrating when a program that used to work suddenly stops working, Cortland.

I completely understand the frustration and inconvenience that you must be experiencing due to this issue. I know how much time and effort you've already put in to resolve this problem. However, after conducting a thorough check using my tools, it has come to my attention that several other users have also reported a similar issue with filtering the Time by Job Detail Report in QuickBooks Desktop. This issue appears to be more prevalent among customers using the QBDT 2021Accounting version of the software.

With that said, I suggest reaching out to our customer support team. This way, you'll be added to the affected users. Also, they will be able to update you on when this will be resolved or updates about the status of the investigation.

Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), click Help.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help or press F1 on your keyboard.
  3. Click the Contact Us button in the Have a Question? window.
  4. Enter your concern in the description box and select Continue.
  5. Choose either Chat with us or Have us call you.

Before reaching out with your concerns, please take a moment to review our support hours. This will ensure that we can assist you as promptly as possible.

You may find it helpful to review this article on customizing reports in QBDT: Customize Reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Don't hesitate to contact us if you need any help or have any concerns. We are always available to assist you and ensure a positive experience with our services.

Just to confirm, I tried my workaround process again by "repairing" Quickbooks Desktop from the Control Panel and the report filters that were failing immediately worked again. I then ran QB Update and the reports broke again.

Hopefully this will provide a workaround for the rest of the community while the developers fix the bug.

Thank you AileneA for your reply, but I'm afraid I haven't the time to call and go through the QB support process so will monitor this thread for when Intuit pushes a fix.

Thank you,
