Report for Account with specific Chart of Acct numbers

Customers make deposits to a specific bank account and each deposit will be split into multiple chart of account numbers. I need a report to extract the amounts of each deposit to that account with a specific set of chart of account numbers, ignoring those not of interest. For example the report would show all deposits to bank A with chart of account numbers 100, 120 or 175.

The closest I have come to this is the tedious method: COA, select one of the chart of acct numbers (eg 175), go to register, filter transaction type deposit, export to excel, sort by account to see those of bank A and proceed from there. For each chart of acct number!

Thank you for getting back into this thread, @drveg. Allow me to update my response. 

 

Instead of using an Account List report, we can generate a Transaction Detail by Account report, which displays the account number, transaction type, name, date, amount, and balance.

 

Here's how: 

  1. On the Reports tab, search Transaction Detail by Account report. 
  2. Switch to Classic View, then click Customize.
  3. Click Filter, then modify the Transaction Type to Deposit.
  4. Choose either the 100, 200, or 175 in the Distribution Account.
  5. On the Rows/Columns, click Change Columns.
  6. Check the Account Number, Date, Transaction Type, Name, Memo/Description, Split, Amount, and Balance, then reorder its columns by dragging the dots beside it to these ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠orders.
  7. On the General field, change the Date to This Month-to-date or change it to your desired date.
  8. Click Run Report.

Once done, you can utilize this customization by clicking Save Customization.

I appreciate you for trying another way to see the amounts of each deposit to a specific bank account with a set of charts of account numbers in QuickBooks Online, @drveg.

 

To see the amount deposited to that specific bank account with a set of charts of account numbers, we can run an Account List report.

 

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Report and search the Account list.
  2. Select Switch to classic view. 
  3. Click Customize, then Filter the Account to the chart of accounts you want to see.
  4. Filter the rest of the field to your preferences, then Run Report.

Thanks for your reply.  First, I don't see any way to restrict the date range with this approach.  I should have mentioned that I don't want all dates but I am used to being able to select a date range. I need to do this each month.

The big problem is that this doesn't quite do what is needed.  To explain it more logically, the condition is

(bank = A)  AND (chart of accts is in 100 OR 120 OR 175) AND (date is in range).

When I follow the advice given, if I just put in the accounts 100,120,175 I get the data for ALL banks (and dates).  It then occurred to me that I can add the condition of bank=A but then I get all deposits in bank A.

It seems the filters seem to provide for OR meaning to list each individually, and no way to get the AND on accounts.

    Fantastic!  I needed to make one change.  The report above gives deposits to all banks.  Going to the Account box and entering "bank A" reduces it to just the bank account needed.  This report is very versatile.  We receive donations in multiple bank accounts and I need to calculate the amounts of various restricted moneys to move to other accounts.  Thanks very much!
