Hello. I need to be able to add PROJECT to all reports, but especially on the "Sales by Customer Detail". It doesn't appear I can do this. Is there a work around.

I need the following:

Customer

Date

Transaction

Number

Project

Product/Service

Memo/Description

Amount

Rate

Balance

You're unable to add a specific project column in the Sales by Customer Detail report, LdyRhds. But you can customize it to manually include your projects. I'll guide you on how to do this below.

When you customize reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can filter particular accounts or customers, or format the layout so the right data shows up. To incorporate projects into your Sales by Customer Detail report, here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and find and open the Sales by Customer Detail report.
  2. Select the Customize button.
  3. Choose the Filter dropdown.
  4. In the Customer field, manually select your projects.
  5. Click Run report.

After that, you can memorize the report to save its current customization settings.

Also, if you wish to utilize your financial reports outside of QuickBooks for future reference, you can export them. You can refer to this article for guidance on how to perform this procedure: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.

Come back here anytime if you have additional questions about modifying reports in QBO. I'll be willing to assist you further. Keep safe.

Thank you for replying. However, this did not work. There is no way to manually select your projects in the Customer field under FILTER.

Hi there, LdyRhds. I'm here to guide you so you can successfully add them to the report.

Since the option to add a Project column on the report is unavailable, you can customize and filter this to show this detail. Please know this will show under the Customer column it's associated with. You may refer to the image below:

If you're in the Modern view, click Filter, then select Customer in the Filter box. Then, in the operation box, select equals, while for the Value, choose the project you want to include in the report. You can select multiple projects at the same time. Also, ensure to enter the reporting period to gather all associated projects.

On the other hand, if you're using the Classic view, you can follow the steps provided by Rea_M. Similarly to the latter view, you can select multiple projects in the Customer dropdown list.

However, if you have already performed any of these steps and can't select your projects in the Customer field, this could be due to a cache-induced browser. It can affect the program's performance and hinder it in collecting your data. To fix this, you can start by accessing your account through an incognito or private browser. I'll write down the shortcut keys for easier access:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once you log in, please generate the report and follow the steps above to filter it.

If this works, you can clear your browser's cache to eliminate unnecessary caches that affect the program's performance. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative option.
