How do I run a Sales Journal that includes sales tax? I need to do this for a sales tax audit.

Hi, Lynn0104. You can run a Sales Tax Liability report. Let me ensure that you're guided with the steps to get the data that you need.

We are unable to create a sales journal that includes your sales tax. However, as an alternative, we can create a Sales Tax Liability report which shows a summary of the sales tax you’ve collected and owe to your tax agencies. Here's how to access it:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account.
  2. Go to  Reports menu.
  3. Select Vendors & Payables.
  4. And then click Sales Tax Liability.

Once done, we can export it to a CSV file by clicking on each line item under taxable sales to view the sales tax revenue details. I've also included some screenshots for your visual reference:

Refer to this helpful article for additional information about this report: Review sales tax reports.

If you have several companies, you can use the Combine Reports feature to consolidate the financial reports of those companies.  You can find a detailed guide here: Combine reports from multiple company files.
