Hi there,
I'm running a sales report for "this month to date" but when I run the report it shows no data.
Why would that be?
Is there a different way to show revenue that's come in this month?
Thanks
Matt

Hello there, Matt. Let's determine why the report shows no data in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

First, verify that the date range for the report is correctly set to encompass the current month. This step is important as an incorrect date range could result in the exclusion of relevant data from the report. Second, select the appropriate basis (accrual or cash) in QBO to align with your accounting method, as this choice impacts revenue and expense recognition. Lastly, double-check the Sales menu for recorded transactions in the current month. If no transactions are present, the report will likely show no data.

If you can see transactions in the Sales menu but not in the report, let's perform some basic troubleshooting steps to address the discrepancy. Sometimes, QuickBooks can encounter unusual behavior and performance issues due to browser problems. To begin, use a private browser to run the sales report. Keyboard shortcuts are as follows:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Sh

If it's successful, return to your regular browser and clear your browser's history to start afresh. If not, we suggest using a different supported browser because the QuickBooks version you're utilizing now may have a temporary malfunction.

Moreover, to view revenue that's come in this month, you can run the Transaction Detail by Account and customize the report to show income accounts and the date range for the current month. You may also use the Sales by Customer Summary or Sales by Product/Service Summary report and set the date range to This Month or This Month to Date.

You'll want to save the report's current customization settings. Refer to this article: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have any other questions or need further assistance running reports within the program. I'd be pleased to help you track your transactions in the future. Take care.
