We changed the GL account # that our sales taxes are recorded in (via the Products/Services section) however it continues to be charged to the old account number.   Any ideas why this would be happening?

Glad to have you here today, Coach.

Let me share the details about the special accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO), so you'll be aware of why are your sales taxes recorded in that specific account.

When you create a company in QBO, specific default accounts in your Chart of Accounts are generated based on your chosen business entity or when you enable certain functions, such as sales tax setting.

By doing so, the (Sales tax agency name) Payable is created automatically. It tracks sales for each transaction, and you're not permitted to deactivate or use this account for any other purpose.

Additionally, you can run the Sales Tax Liability report in QBO to have a detailed look at the taxes you owe and why you owe them. It helps ensure everything is accurate before filing and paying your sales tax return.

If you have any questions relating to sales tax, please feel free to respond below. I'd be more than happy to assist you further. Keep safe, and have a wonderful day!
