Thanks for raising your concern about the error you encountered in your Sales Tax Center here, @DocGuy.

While we're constantly evolving our products to provide you with the best possible user experience, we don't anticipate a change to this product behavior in the immediate future. We have a workaround for you to resolve the error in your Sales Tax Center specifically (Sales Tax Owed).

Please take a moment to make the switch to Automated Sales Tax. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Sales Tax Center.
  2. If you are met with a page to Use Automatic Sales Tax, please follow the prompts.
  3.  If you aren't met with a page to Use Automatic Sales, please copy and paste this URL into your browser: https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/tax/set-up-tax.
  4.  Follow all the prompts on your screen to complete the switch to Automatic Sales Tax.

If the same issue persists, I recommend contacting QuickBooks Online live support to review your account and look for the root cause of the error to find a fix.

In case you want to adjust or delete sales tax payments, you can check this article: Manage sales tax payments.

I'm always here to assist if you have any other questions about managing sales taxes in QBO. Just let me know by leaving a reply below. Thanks again.

Hi there! Since October 2023, I have needed to take extraordinary measures outside of Quickbooks to formulate accurate reports to file monthly sales taxes. Also, I have been unable to enter the sales tax amounts paid because of a system error. It has been burden.

I postulate the following to the Quickbooks engineers or to whom it may concern:

Why not restore or revert the tax center programming to August when there were no detrimental tax center issues, until you can debug the new? The current tax center state has resulted in significant adverse effects. With a new tax season quickly approaching, a different strategy may need serious consideration.
