Question

Setting Report number format preference (currency, general, etc...) in QBO

I have setup several scheduled reports (.xls attachments) to be deliver via email exported each day to my OneDrive. I am using Power BI to connect to these .xls files. The number format of these reports are "custom". Power Query / Power BI cannot recognize this number format. I need to be able to adjust from "custom" to (currency, general, etc...) inside of QuickBooks Online.

Is this possible?

Thanks for bringing this up to the Community space, @Tekell. Let me guide you in adjusting the number format in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Changing the number format can be done in two different ways in QBO. You can change it in the Account and Settings and the report itself.

You can follow the steps below to navigate the Account and Settings in your account.

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  3. Select the Advanced tab in the left menu.
  4. Go to Other Preferences, then click on the Pencil icon.
  5. Select the format you want to apply to your accounts in the Number format dropdown.
  6. Click Save, then Done.

On the other hand, if you want to alter the number format in the report, it will depend on what type of report you're trying to open. If the report you open doesn't have the Customize feature, you can switch to Classic View to access it. However, by doing this step, you can't revert it, and the report will remain in the Classic view.

  1. Go to Reports, then search the report you want to run in the Find report by name field.
  2. Click on the Switch to Classic View.
  3. Press the Customize button.
  4. Under Number Format, select or put a check on the format options available.
  5. Click Run Report.

Thank you for your response. However, those solutions don't seem to resolve my issue. After the reports are exported, the numbers have "Custom" number formatting in excel.
