Sharing access with accountant

Hi, for some reason, my accountant is not able to access my Quickbooks.  She has been doing my taxes for several years and now it’s giving an error code (HTTP STATUS CODE 400) when she tries. I went to “share with accountant” and it said I was already sharing and had her email. I removed her and was going to re-add and the screen is not responding when I try to enter an email. 

I did see a similar question, which was answered with “go to the gear icon, manage users…”. I don’t have a gear icon. I went to settings and I don’t have a “manage users.”

 

can anyone please help me get this set up again?

HTTP Status 400 Bad Request error happens when the request sent to the server is unavailable, userkickitwithdavid. Let us guide you with several troubleshooting steps that can help resolve this matter and invite your accountant again.

 

We can perform some troubleshooting steps to see if the issue is within your browser. We can open a private or incognito window in the browser to open QBO with a clean slate and load fresh data. Here's how:

 

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

 

Once done, invite your accountant again by following the steps below:

 

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu and select Accountant.
  3. In the Accountant email field, enter your accountant’s email address.
  4. Tap Send invitation.
  5. Choose Text a code to verify your identity. This sends a verification code to your registered mobile number.
  6. Enter the code in the Verification code field and press Continue. 

 

This email an invite to your accountant and you’ll get an email notification once they accept the invite. After they accept it, they can access your accounts through QuickBooks Online Accountant. If they don’t receive the invite, you can click Resend invitation.

 

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The collection of data over time can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. Also, you can utilize another supported browser or device if this doesn't work. This happens when the current browser you're using has a temporary issue with the program.

 

It is advisable to consult with an IT expert to assess your browser's settings and extensions because add-ons such as ad blockers, security tools, and toolbar extensions can interfere with the functionality of websites.
