Question

Should my invoice payments that are paid by bank transfer be charged a maximum transfer fee of $7? I was recently charged $74 for a bank transfer payment fee.

A customer paid an invoice using bank transfer. It states that the maximum fee is $7, however I was charged a fee of $74. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community, taylertrimusa.

I appreciate that you brought this issue to our attention, and I want to ensure that it is addressed immediately.

As you mentioned, your merchant account is set up for a $7.00 processing fee for ACH or Bank transactions. Thus, you should not see a charge of $74.00 unless the transaction was scheduled for instant deposit. In such cases, there is an additional 1.75% fee on top of the $7.00 ACH processing fee when you have linked your debit card for instant deposit.

To see all customer payments included in your instant deposit and a breakdown of related fees, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Sales menu.
  2. Select Deposits.
  3. From the list, choose a deposit you want to see details for.

If the above does not apply, while I would love to assist you further, this process requires some personal information and we prioritize keeping your information secure as the Community is a public forum. I suggest reaching out to our Payment Support Team to investigate why you're being charged $74.00 instead of $7.00.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon and choose Search.
  2. Click the Contact Us button and enter your concern.
  3. Press Continue.

In addition, I have some articles that can provide you with more information about instant deposits and how to manage QuickBooks Payments to track your transactions and update your information if needed:

I'll be on this thread anytime you need additional assistance managing payments in your account. Feel free to add the details below.

If you are B2B, consider having a 3rd party payment processor to integrate with QB and accept ACH payments for free.
