Is it possible to expand a P&L report to not just show the subaccounts but each transaction under each account/subaccount?

@chanscar  Should just be the Profit & Loss Detail report.

Assuming QBO hasn't been gutted of that, of course.

Yes, @chanscar. You can customize the Profit & Loss (P&L) report to include every transaction for each account or subaccount. I'll guide you through the process of how to display these transaction details.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to Reports menu.
  2. In the search tab, click the dropdown and select Profit and Loss.
  3. Click Customize in the upper right corner.
  4. Go to the Rows/Columns section.
  5. Under the Show columns, select All.

        6. In the Filter section, choose the specific accounts or subaccounts you want to include in the report.

        7. Click Run Report to generate the P&L report with expanded details showing each transaction under the selected accounts/subaccounts.

Now, the report will display all transactions that contribute to the totals of the selected accounts or subaccounts in the P&L statement.

If you want to further refine the report, you can filter by transaction type, customer, vendor. You can also Run a Profit and Loss report by bank account in QuickBooks Online.

You can refer to the articles below for future guidance.

@chanscar

You can also click on the amount for each income/expense account on the standard P&L report and that will take you to a Transaction Report that shows all the transactions.
