Question

Since the latest update, I cannot change/customize the invoice numbers in my mobile app. Has anyone else had that problem?

Hello there.

The option to edit or change the invoice number in QuickBooks Online is only available in the browser version and not in the QuickBooks Online Mobile app. This difference in functionality is due to the varying features and capabilities of the platforms.

To change the invoice number, I recommend using a web browser on your computer or mobile device to access QuickBooks Online. In the browser version, you should be able to edit or change the invoice number for your invoices as a workaround. I've also added this article to learn which QuickBooks Online mobile app features are supported on mobile devices: Compare mobile app features.

You can also use this resource in the future if you need more personalized invoices and other sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any additional concerns or questions about invoices, please keep this thread in mind. Keep safe!

Our invoices are preceded by a letter, which is no longer possible in the mobile app, since the latest update earlier this month. It's going to cause huge problems for our technicians in the field.

It shouldn't be a big deal for you to add that feature back into the mobile platform - especially for the ridiculous price we are paying for online access.

Thank you.

Thanks for getting back with the Community, mksperl-live-com.

I can certainly understand how an ability to edit invoice numbers in your mobile app could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion(s) in the Have feedback? window.
  3. If necessary, attach a file with your Camera icon.
  4. Select Next.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a lovely day!

It's my responsibility to support you in resolving the crashing and issues so you can utilize them on your QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile application, @Ludwicks. I'm here to help you and solve this matter.

Before that, we understand the frustration of not having this process as anticipated and the significance of getting this fixed as quickly as possible.

Let me inform you that there's an ongoing investigation into the issue you mentioned about creating invoices via a mobile application for Android users.

In this case, I encourage you to call our support team so they can add you to the affected users.

However, if you are using iOS, you can erase the cache from your application so that you can use it again with a clean slate and all of its capabilities at your convenience. I'll happily enter the following instructions so you may go on.

For iOS users, here's how:

  1. Select the menu at the top right corner of your device.
  2. Next, choose Help & Feedback.
  3. Select Refresh Data.
  4. Click Refresh.

It's supposed to solve the problem and bring the missing data or icons back to your mobile application. However, if the problem continues, I've got this post for you with other solutions about uninstalling and reinstalling the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

As a workaround, create an invoice by logging in to your account using a supported browser by QuickBooks. Doing this will allow you to create an invoice while we're still looking for possible remedies to the issue.

I'm rooting for your success in getting this resolved, @Ludwicks. Please don't hesitate to mention me in the comment section below. I'll make sure to get back to you as soon as possible. We thank you, and have a good day, and be safe!

We use a "D" prefix in front of an invoice to label it as a draft invoice.  Once an invoice is finalized, we remove the "D" from invoice to indicate it is final. We then send it to the client. We never send a "D" draft invoice to a client

Starting on 12/11/2023, we can no longer edit an invoice number.  This is a real issue for us.  Suggestions?

It's definitely not a perfect solution, but have you tried creating an invoice approval workflow?
