Does anyone know about or have experience setting up statistical accounts in QB? It does not appear possible. I'd like to track things like hours and utility consumption.

Hey there, @bcpc-SEG.

I hope you're enjoying this beautiful day.

At this time, there's no way of creating an account for Statistics in QuickBooks Desktop. Your only options would be Income, Expense, Fixed asset, Bank, Loan, Credit Card, and Equity. I recommend checking https://apps.intuit.com to find an app that has accounts that can record statistical information.

I understand how this could be beneficial to you and your business. If you'd like, I can submit feedback to our product development team, so this could be considered in a future update.

Please let me know if there's anything else that I could help you with. You can always reach out to the Community or me anytime you find you have questions or concerns. Wishing you and your business continued success. Take care!

Has any progress been made for entering Statistical Data in QuickBooks for financial analysis on statements?

March 23, 2020

Please add my vote in for statistical accounts in QB!

I use two kinds of statistical accounts:

--Volume accounts:  Act like revenue and expense accounts that accumulate via transactions over the month and clear out at the end of the month.

-- Balance accounts: Act like balance sheet accounts that are measured at a point in time like month end.

Transactions (whether expenses or sales or journal entries) can book to both money and statistical accounts.  Examples: booking hours worked AND billings or Inventory units AND cost.

Waiting with breathless antici...pation!

Hello, johnpc58.

I appreciate you letting us know this feature would be helpful for you as well. I'll submit an additional feedback request on your behalf for using both volume and balance statistical accounts in QuickBooks. These go directly to our product development team so it can be considered for a future update.

If there's anything else I can help with, I'm only a post away!

You can track non- financial data by setting up an account and contra account.

Add my vote for this feature too.  It will be useful to track billed hours, headcount, number of app users, etc.

I was wondering if any progress has been made on statistical accounts in Quickbooks online and if so, how it works.  Thank you.

At this time, QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't yet offer an option for creating a Statistical Account, KT459.

While we consider this option for incoming product improvements, I recommend you send this suggestion directly to our product developers. This way, they can examine and reconsider this option depending on the number of requests. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter a brief description of your product suggestion.
  4. Click Next to submit feedback.

In the meantime, I recommend using a third-party application that integrates with QuickBooks to enable a statistical account generator. You can start by following these steps:

  1. In your QBO account, navigate to the Apps menu.
  2. Select Find Apps.
  3. In the Apps window, start looking for one by typing in a keyword, or if you have something in mind, locate this by typing the application's name on the search bar.

Other than that, you can export your data into an Excel file and use the following information to create a statistical account outside QuickBooks. For complete guidelines, refer to this article: Export your QuickBooks Online data.

Should you have additional concerns about features available in the application, please feel free to reach out in this forum. We're 24/7 available for assistance.
