Hi,

We have a very small property management firm and use QuickBooks desktop.

Our CPA would like us to get a template to upload expenses and income into QuickBooks.  I have looked online and can not seem to find this template.

Does anyone here know where I can find a template to accomplish this?

Presume that the template will need:

Transaction type - expense vs. income

Date

Account

Appreciate your help!

I'm here to provide information about importing in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) William.

QuickBooks Desktop doesn't currently allow for uploading. CSV files for banking transactions. You can only import using CSV files such as CustomerVendorItems, and Chart of Accounts from an Excel spreadsheet.

You'll need to import bank transactions using the IIF files.

Before importing transactions using IIF, you'll need to download and install the .IIF import kit (Download Kit) so you'll be guided on the format of IIF file, please note that there are limitations, to know more you can check this article: IIF Overview: import kit, sample files, and headers.

Ensure you Back up your company file before you import IIF files. If you ever run into problems, you can use your backup to restore your data.

Here's how to import IIFs:

  1. Access your company file as an admin.
  2. If you are currently in Multi-user mode, navigate to the File menu, and then select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  3. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
  4. Choose Import, then select Import IIF.
  5. Select the IIF file you want to import, then select Open.
  6. Click OK to confirm the import.

You can refer to these articles for a more detailed guide:

Export, import, and edit IIF files

Import or export MS Excel files

Import/export CSV files

Additionally, you can check out this article for a comprehensive overview of how your business is performing financially, you can run and personalize various reports in QBDT: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have any questions about managing tour transactions in QBDT feel free to ask. I'm always here in the Community to assist you.

@williampwoods

If you are not familiar with IIF, you can use an importer tool to import data in XLS/CSV file formats. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase it via a partner.
